100 Words about Being in Mexico Right Now
Should I stay or should I go?
This is a test of the 100-word format. Here we go. Start counting.
You may know the Mexican government took down the top cartel leader, El Mencho, this past weekend. I am still in Mexico, trying to decide what to do. Tourists in the worst-affected areas can’t get a flight out, but I drove down. It’s 650 km to the US border. Should I leave today and try to get out? I am in Sonora state, one of the least-affected states. It looks safe. If you were me, what would you do? I’d love to hear from you.

Who likes the 100-word format? Who would prefer a 1,000-word essay? And who is fond of my longer essays, which run from 2,000-2,500 words, and take 10-12 minutes to read. It’s killing me writing the longer essays. Should I cut them in half or more?
